Hide file or folder

You can hide a file or folder in windows very easily. Hididng a file plays a major role in privacy and security. Many times we have very important information that should not be disclosed to the outside world. We cannot store it "as it is" on the computer also, because anyone using the computer may gain access to that file.

So, for protecting your privacy or security, you have two options: Either password protect the file or hide it so that other users cannot see it easily.

Here I will teach you how to hide a file or folder in your computer so that users cannot find it easily.

Steps to hide a file:
  1. Right click on the file or folder you want to hide.
  2. Click properties.
  3. On the attributes section, check hidden.
  4. Click apply.
  5. Click OK.

Now you won't be able to see the file since it is hidden. When a file or folder is hidden, it disappears. It actually does not go anywhere. It is still there, but since it is hidden, you cannot see it.

If you want to see the hidden file again, go to tools --> folder options --> view tab --> "Show hidden files and folders".

Now you should be able to see the hidden files and folders. You may again go to the attributes section and deselect "hidden" to unhide the file or folder.
